What personal strengths will help me succeed abroad?

First and foremost, my fluency in Italian will be crucial to my success in work and daily life. Being able to communicate with little to no language barrier will instantly allow me to be more successful in experiencing the culture and executing my research.

On top of that, the time I spent living in Italy and Europe as a young child has taught me a lot about the way society works differently then America over there. More importantly, it taught me how to approach new and uncomfortable situations head on, and to not be afraid of looking a little silly sometimes!

Lastly, the lab I will be working with does not currently have a computational chemistry component. My experience in the field will hopefully allow me to make a genuine contribution to the project by coming at problems from a unique perspective.

Can you see the trend yet? Here's another baby Siena pic!
